Sharron Ann Torgerson Bell was born in Salina, Utah on February 7, 1943, the youngest of Orsen and Ellen Torgerson. Sharron grew up in Richfield, Utah surrounded by the beauty of Southern, Utah. She especially loved her time at Fishlake, where her father was a forest ranger. Sharron learned when she was young to use her artistic mind creating dolls out of hollyhocks and dishes out of leaves and acorns. Through the years all who knew her learned that her talent knew no bounds. She was not only wonderfully talented but extremely generous, she often shared her time teaching those who wanted to learn her crafts but also most who knew her had something beautiful she had created.
On “Some Enchanted Evening” in the Summer of 1961 Sharron met her Sam (Frank Bell) while working at Bowery Haven. Under the beautiful Fishlake sky, they began their eternal love story and were married on November 11th of that year. Together they built an amazing life. They were each other’s one and only and loved adventures together. Whether working on projects to make their house a home, gardening, dipping chocolates, gathering wood, fishing, cooking around a campfire or just going for a ride, the simple things in life were cherished because they were together.
Sam and Sharron added a daughter (Yvonne) to their family in 1964 and then a son (Phillip) in 1967. Soon they were all adventuring together. Sharron graduated from High School in 1961 and then went on to receive a degree in Graphic Design from Salt Lake Community College when her children were grown.
Sharron worked in graphic design for a short time and then later for John Henry Smith Insurance Company in Sugarhouse until she retired.
Sharron was a member of the Utah Watercolor Society and the Sandy Watercolor Guild. She enjoyed afternoons painting, teaching and sharing her talents with the members of these groups. They soon became some of her closest friends. Sharron is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and over the years served in most of the organizations.
Sharron was preceded in death by parents, Orson and Ellen Torgerson, her sister June (Torgerson) Foster, brothers, Nolan, Holt, Verdon and Devon Torgerson and most difficult of all her sweetheart, Sam in 2008.
Sharron is survived by her daughter, Yvonne (Jack) Johanson, and their children, Joshua, (Alysha) Johanson, Taylor (Lisa) Johanson, Lauren (Jerame) Nye and Elijah Johanson, as well as her son, Phillip (Wendy) Bell and their children, Brayden Bell, Kahlen Bell, Courtney (Logan) Dade Astle and Landon Dade. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Jax and Jade Johanson, Claire and Wyatt Johanson, and Crew and Marlee Nye.
In December of last year Sharron fell at home and broke her pelvis. After a hospitalization it was determined she was no longer safe at home. She left behind her friends and home of over 50 years as her family moved her to Spring Gardens in Draper. While there she quickly made friends and for a short time found fellow artists to paint, reminisce and have ice cream in the afternoons with. But soon another move was imminent where she could be reunited with all her loved ones and especially her Sam.
We are so grateful to her neighborhood and Ward members who have loved and served her over the years as well as the amazing staff at Spring Gardens who truly loved, cared for her and treated her like their own. And we are especially and eternally grateful to our Savior Jesus Christ who makes all our reunions possible.
