Todd Allen Genessy passed away at home on June 18, 2021, shortly after his 52nd birthday. Todd was born June 6, 1969 and was always happy with that birthday: 6/6/69. Todd was a free spirit and always loved life on his own terms. He will be missed very much.
Todd was passionate about the outdoors and his favorite pastimes were camping, hunting, and fishing. Unfortunately, these activities were no longer possible after Todd was paralyzed in a car accident in May of 2015.
Todd made a living for many years as a Master Home Electrician. Todd studied hard to achieve this status and eventually founded his own company, XElectric. Playing on the Generation “X” of which he was a part, his company’s slogan was “a new generation of quality electrical work,” and he even went by the nickname “Xman1” with many friends and business associates (his brother Shawn also worked with him and was known as “Xman2”). Todd enjoyed some of the best years of his life building XElectric and helping many home builders and homeowners put quality electrical work in place.
Todd never expected to become a father, but it was the highlight of his life when, in 2007, he got to experience that honor and privilege anyway. Todd always said that the birth of his son, Todd Allen Genessy Jr. (“TJ”), was the best thing that ever happened to him. During the darkest days after Todd’s accident, TJ was a light in Todd’s life that gave him purpose and reason to keep moving forward. Todd was also very grateful for the sacrifice of his parents who cared for him with perfect unconditional love during that difficult final chapter of his life.
Todd is survived by his son, Todd Allen Genessy Jr.; his parents, Ivan Don and Janice Bills Genessy; his siblings, James Genessy and (Natalie), Jennifer (Wayne) Bushman, Shawn (Jill) Genessy, Kristi (Blaine) Bassett, and many nieces and nephews.
The family expresses deepest gratitude for the tireless work of the doctors, nurses, physical therapists, paramedics, and others who have helped Todd during the last six years since his accident, as well as for the touching generosity of so many friends and loved ones who contributed to help cover expenses related to Todd’s burial.
A celebration of life for Todd will be held Thursday June 24, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Valley View Funeral Home. Interment will will at Valley View Memorial Park.
