Vickie Ruth Lynes

Vickie Ruth Lynes left this world for a better one September 3, 2011 while in the comfort of her home and in the care of her loving husband and eternal companion. Vickie was a resident of Kearns, Utah and was born in Richfield, Utah to Cleve and Beth Erickson, who have both preceded her in passing. Vickie graduated from Richfield High and studied to become an educator at Southern Utah University.

Vickie is survived by her husband Roger, who graciously and compassionately ensured that she was given the most excellent of care in these last moments of her life. She will forever be remembered by her brothers, Michael and Chesley, and their respective wives, Marilynn and Amy. She is survived by four of her five beautiful children and their spouses; Nicole and Isaac Kemp, Stephanie and Trent Syme, Patrick and Bettyna Lynes, and Desiree and Colby Western; as well as her beautiful grandchildren, who were the absolute joy of her life, Pete, Jacob, Charlotte June, Dylan, Gabriella, Gavin, Gianna, and Josey Beth. She was preceded in death by her charming and delightful son, Stephen Erick, who passed in 1980 at the age of three. Her family received much comfort in the knowledge that the two of them are now reunited.

Vickie’s love of children led her to work at Fox Hills Elementary where she met and influenced the lives of countless youths. She was a mother to many children, and was known for her affectionate and compassionate heart and her dedication to the service of others, especially little children. She found much joy in temple work and in serving her Lord and Redeemer in the salvation of others long passed. Vickie touched the lives of many with her smile and generosity, and maintained her wonderful sense of humor all the way to the end. She will be remembered for her beauty, her charming personality, and her love of cooking, feeding, and caring for her family.

Beloved family and friends are welcome to share in a celebration of Vickie’s life. Viewing to be held at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City on Thursday, September 8th from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral Services to take place on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kearns Seventh Ward Chapel, 4015 West 5900 South, with a viewing held one hour prior to the service.

Vickie’s family would like to express deep gratitude to the neighbors and friends who offered compassion and service through her struggles, and also to Intermountain Home Health and Hospice and her many dedicated healthcare providers.
