battle with a rare autoimmune & lung disease.
Virginia was born to parents,Rosenda Ramirez and Ernesto Medina on July 17, 1983.
She grew up in Reedley, California, but moved to Utah in October 1997. She attended Reedley
High School in California and went on to attend Mountain West College in Utah where she
received 3 President List honors. She was extremely intelligent. However, life took her in a
different direction. She overcame many obstacles due to her mental health, but she chose to
live life unapologetically. She loved being outdoors and often embarked on mini road trips or
“adventures” as we called them. She was a wild one with a personality and attitude to match.
Nothing and no one stopped her from living life on her terms.
In April 1997 she met the love of her life, her husband Salvador Zavala. They married on
February 28, 2001. He was her soulmate, partner in crime to the very end. Although many
disagreements took them apart at times, they always found a way back to each other. He loved
her and will miss growing old together. They had 6 children together who were her everything.
They loved going on wild adventures with mom. They will miss their conversations and her hugs
the most.
She was the proud aunt of many nieces and nephews whom she also took on many wild
adventures with her. She didn’t judge them, she tried her best to relate to each child and make
them feel special and loved. She created and left amazing memories with them. They will all
miss her so much.
She took pride in being the older sister. All 4 siblings were inseparable. Beyond disagreements,
arguments, life lessons, they remained close and even death won’t break the spiritual bond they
formed with her. We love you sis - Always & Forever!
Her mom was her best friend. They had an unbreakable bond. They weathered storms together.
Held each other down without any questions asked. They were undeniably born for each other.
Mom will miss her oldest baby girl very much.
We want to thank all of the University of Utah MICU nurses, doctors, and entire staff for doing
everything possible to help her. We had as much time as possible with her thanks to you all and
we are forever grateful. To all of her mom’s colleagues there, thank you for the endless prayers,
hugs, and food. You are all amazing!
