Walter Mar Miles

October 4, 1933July 5, 2018

Walter Mar Miles, 84, returned to his Heavenly Father on July 5, 2018.

He was born on October 4, 1933 to Walter J. and Eva Leavitt Miles in St. George, Utah. He attended Dixie College and Brigham Young University graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He met his wife, Pacita Galleo, while serving in the Army, stationed in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. They were married on September 10, 1960. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple. He worked for 32 years at Hercules. Upon retirement, he worked for Winder Dairy for an additional 10 years. Besides his family, some of his hobbies included: stamp collecting, raising show rabbits, reading, hunting and physical fitness.

Walter loved all sports. He played both basketball and baseball in his youth. As a dad, he coached all of his children’s softball and baseball teams. He was an avid BYU sports fan and especially loved BYU football. He spent his later years traveling around to attend as many of his grandchildren’s sports games, as well as, any other activity they were involved in.

Dad loved to spend time with his family. He loved to get together for family dinners and he loved going on family vacations. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - Day Saints and served in many different capacities. His favorite calling was serving in the Jordan River Temple, which he did for 13 years.

Walter is survived by his wife, Pacita of almost 58 years, children: Lori (Alema), Rachelle (Alan), Brent (Monica). Grandchildren: Erika, Kiana, Kekoa, Braden, Landon, Julana, Kapono and Gage. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald, Lloyd and Roland and one sister, Lorna Winkler. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Mohr, and his parents, Walter and Eva.

The family wishes to thank the emergency personnel and medical staff at the Intermountain Medical Center for their compassion and care given to our father, as well as our entire family.

I’m so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in God’s promise of a resurrection where we will be reunited with our loved ones who have passed away and will never be separated by death again - John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:3,4

Dear Miles Family, we are so saddened with the passing of Walt. He was a great man among all men. We will miss his wry smile and hearty handshake that he always had available. We will miss his dry wit and amazing wardrobe. Most of all, we will miss our wonderful friend. May you find peace in the gospel of Jesus Christ at this time. All our love, the LaJeunesse's.
