Yvonne Lucille Petersteiner McDonald age 89, passed away April 13, 2011 at her home in South Jordan surrounded by her family. Yvonne was born October 14, 1921 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Elizabeth Elva and Alfred Fred Petersteiner. She attended school in Klamath Falls, Oregon and also Sacramento Jr. College. She married Dwain Cover McDonald on March 8, 1942 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Service was Yvonne McDonald’s middle name. Yvonne was a wonderful friend and mother who served all she met. She served as Primary President, as a leader in the Young Women Organization and as President of the LDS Relief Society many times. Her service was compassionate, complete, and non-judgmental.
She married her sweetheart Dwain just before he entered WWII and patiently awaited his safe return. She continued serving her loving husband for 65 years.
Yvonne’s home was always filled with people who experienced her love and were nurtured by her graciousness and yummy home cooked meals. She was a great listener, an example of faithfulness and put everyone’s needs ahead of her own.
The joy in her life was her husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. How she loved those babies.
Yvonne had angel hands. Her touch was comforting and healing. She was a faithful example and disciple of Christ as she endured to the very end.
Yvonne is survived by her husband Dwain Cover McDonald, children: Lynda Allen, Sandra (Barry) Anderton, Wendy (Sam) Jeppson, Leslie (Doug) Winder, Nancy Godbey, and William (Diane) McDonald. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 67 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Bud Petersteiner, sister Gloria Watkins and granddaughter Debbie Minson. The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude and love to Yvonne’s caregivers Karina Altheman, and the great people at Haven Hospice.
