Alene Wecker Davis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was called home on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the age of 99. Alene was born on September 14, 1925 at her home in Ogden, Utah to Guy L. Wecker and Margaret Blair Wecker. Alene was a young teenager when World War II broke out. At that time, she was attending Ogden High, and it was there that she met her best friend and future husband, Monte Davis. There were other young men who sought her attention, but it was Monte who won her heart. They were married 2 years later on April 24th, 1945.
In December of 1947, Monte and Alene moved to Long Beach, California, where Monte started his automotive career. Alene quickly adapted to the California lifestyle and its nearly perfect weather. Although she missed her family in Utah, she never missed the snow!
Monte and Alene started their family in 1948. They had three children, Susan, Bob, and Nancy, which soon became the center of Alene's life. Although she worked in other fields, her favorite career was being a mom and an advocate for her family. Alene was a force who always put her family first. She attended every school game, event, and program that her children were involved in. Her home became a second home and a sanctuary to the countless teenagers that grew up around her. She always found more joy helping others achieve their dreams rather than pursuing her own.
She was a major contributor in Monte's dream of managing and owning a car dealership. When Lamont had important business decisions to make ... Alene was always the first person he consulted and the person whose opinion mattered most. She was instrumental in Monte's successful career at Glenn E Thomas Company.
Alene loved her home in Long Beach and because of her dear friend and caretaker, Sandra, she was able to live there until her last day. We were blessed to have Mom for 99 years, and that was an incredible gift. There is a huge hole in our hearts, but it will be filled with wonderful memories and the knowledge of the joy she is experiencing being reunited with dad in the next stage of her life.
Alene is survived by her children, Susan Matsen (Jeff), Bob Davis (Barbara) and Nancy Larson (Steele). 15 grandchildren, Jeffrey Matsen (Tania), Kristin Schanz (DJ), Nicole Mangrum (Ty), Brett Matsen, John Davis (Brooke), Lori Hexberg (Haws), Brad Davis (Kori), Dana Hathaway (Chase), Bryan Larson (BreAnna), Blake Larson, Nick Larson (Lindsey), Sean Larson (Rashauna), Greg Matsen (Harlene), Melinda Ferraro (Steve), Brian Matsen (Karen), and 38 great grandchildren.
