Born in the United States, Allen was a man of great talent, passion, and compassion. He pursued his education with dedication, earning an Associate of Arts in Media Communications with a focus on TV Productions from Laney College. He continued his academic journey at the University of Southern California, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Cinema at the School of Cinema, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of storytelling and media.
Allen’s life took a beautiful turn when he met his wife, Rowena, in the Philippines. Their love story began in the most serendipitous way—Allen managed to get Rowena’s number and called her, eventually picking her up for a coffee date at Starbucks. From that moment on, they shared a deep, enduring love that became the cornerstone of their life together. Their shared love of coffee became a cherished tradition, and they often joked that it was their love language.
As a family, they traveled the world, creating memories and sharing in the joys of life. Allen’s love for photography, filming, and capturing the beauty of life was matched only by his deep commitment to volunteering and helping others. Sundays were a special day for Allen, filled with church, family, and his favorite tradition: brunch.
In addition to these passions, Allen found deep peace and solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was a man who found joy in praying, often taking quiet moments to reflect and connect with his faith. Watching sunsets, too, was a special ritual for Allen, a time to appreciate the beauty of the world around him and contemplate the blessings in his life.
Those who knew Allen best would describe him as the "better half" of his family. He was a generous, caring, loving, and hardworking man, whose presence brightened the lives of everyone around him. Allen’s dedication to his family, his work, and his faith made him a truly remarkable person.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rowena Merriweather; his children, Zion and Rachel Merriweather; his sisters Demetra Watts, La Tonya Kellei, Allison Merriweather, Kathy Merriweather, and Akilah Merriweather; his brothers Mathew Akuluze, Gregory Merriweather, and Andrew Merriweather; as well as countless friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Lee Caver; his father, Allen Jefferson Merriweather; his brother, William Merriweather; and his father-in-law, Rafael Antipolo Sr.
