Anthony (Tony) Brian Haskell was born on September 5, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Chicago Heights. His childhood was filled with countless adventures with family and friends, often performing daredevil stunts in the neighborhood. After graduating from Rich Central High School, Tony went to work with his father. He later moved to California and eventually settled in Orange County.
Tony married the love of his life Diane Hays on June 5, 1993. They were blessed with two beautiful and talented sons, Michael and Peyton. Tony loved the Lord and spent countless hours in prayer, worship, and enjoying gospel music. He was intensely passionate about being a father, spending time with his family, and actively providing personal training for his sons to help them excel in sports and encourage a healthy lifestyle. Tony loved watching their sports activities, particularly baseball and Tae Kwon Do. He was an avid fitness enthusiast, relishing extended gym workouts, weightlifting, boxing, and running. Tony’s proudest athletic accomplishments were completing two full marathons.
Throughout his career, Tony’s work ethic and strong desire to help people served him well in the hospitality, payroll tax services, and transportation industries. He had a natural talent in customer service, building positive relationships and consistently receiving distinguished awards from his employers.
Tony was welcomed into the Kingdom by his Heavenly Father, his parents, Garey L. and Pat J. Haskell, his parents-in-law, Milton S. and Nancy A. Hays, his Aunt Carol Jennings and his grandparents.
Tony leaves behind to cherish his memory: Diane Haskell, his sons Michael and Peyton; his brothers, Larry (Tarsha) of Florida and Erik (Karen) of Illinois; his sister Kelley (George) Sawyer of Texas; a special brother/cousin, Dwayne Johnson of Illinois; his uncle, Thurlow (Joyce) of Illinois; his aunts, Lillian Gardner of Illinois and Dr. Gail (Michael) Cansler of Illinois; his very special childhood friends, James Hannah and Jeffrey Young; his brother-in-law Mark (Lori) Hays of California; his sisters-in-law Shelanda Haskell of Illinois, Donnie Upshur of Virginia, Vickie Hays of California, Jeanne (Dirk) Rhynsburger of California, Julie (Tom) Bookman of California; his twenty four nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.
For those wishing to donate in memory of Tony, a gift to the American Heart Association in his name would be especially meaningful, as he died after a three year battle with congestive heart failure. He also believed in the gift of life and had designated himself as a donor. You may also consider giving the gift of life to others.
A chapel service for Anthony will take place on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm with a visitation to follow until 5:30 pm in the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel.
