was born in Portland, TX on Oct 26, 1920 to Eulojia and Enrique. Tony joined the USMC in 1943 during WWII, fought in Guam, Okinawa and Iwa-Jima. He was wounded in Iwa-Jima on March 1945, returning home with a Purple Heart Medal and Honorable Discharge… “Semper Fi”.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Udulia “Lu” Amaro and his sons Tony (Mari), Danny (Silvia), Eddie (Martha), Charley and Robert Amaro, Santiago “Jimmy” Aleman and daughter Albermira (Robert) Salinas. He is also survived by his stepson Guillermo Oropez and stepdaughter Rosie Garcia. He will be missed by his 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.
Tony was preceded in death by his previous wife of 42 years, Herminia “Minnie” Poses Amaro, sons Johnny and Harry; also preceded in death by his mother, Eulojia and Sister, Amelia Medina.
Services for Antonio “Tony” Aleman Amaro will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Westminster Memorial Park and Mortuary. Viewing from 9-12, followed by Rosary and Graveside Service.
