Mrs Herkins was the neighborhood mom to all as well as, the little league.  She was always kind to all and opened her home with such warmth.  She is missed 🙏😢.

Bette will truly be missed by our family. She raised her children to be honest, caring and to do what is right. I will be forever grateful to her and her daughters for their role in my children’s lives. Bette had such a great sense of humor and I could spend hours talking with her as she just had such an infectious way of telling stories of her past. Her smile could warm the coldest hearts. I know that her girls will keep her spirit alive in everything they do. I hope that her boy’s do the same.  Love you Bette!  

God has another Angel in Heaven.  Bette was one of the sweetest women I’ve known. She deeply loved her large family and friends. She was loved by so many. Those left behind will have wonderful memories to remember her by.

I will never forget the first time I met miss Betty, she greeted me so kindly and welcomed me into her home. I found out she was a nurse and having just graduted from LVN school I found it fascinating. She gave me one of her old nursing books and shared a few of her  nursing stories with me. I will always admire her for that. She always had something kind to say and I will always remember her that way.

My deepest condolences to the family, may she rest in peace.

Bette always welcomed me in her home, not just as a guest and friend of her daughter, but as a loved person.  From feeding me ALL of the food, to giving me a huge hug, I will always remember how she made me feel so special.  

She also raised one of my favorite people in the world, Kathryn. She let her be her feisty, funny, loving self and I'll always be grateful because she raised someone who was a rock for me for so many years of my young life.

We will miss and always love you, Bette!!

Dear Herkins Family,

Your mother was such a lovely lady.  She was so friendly and pleasant to know.  From the first moment I met her, she was always so welcoming, and I know she was like that with all the people that she collected into her family.  You will be greatly missed, Bette, not just by your family, but by all the people who knew you.  What a legacy you have left for your children and grandchildren, and for the community.

Thank you for all those beautiful childhood memories. From cooking, to trips to the 99 cent store,  & the so many crafts you always had for us to do. You were such an amazing person and will truly be missed by everyone. Fly high our guardian angel, continue to take care of your loved ones. Your time here on earth has come to an end, but you will continue to shine in heaven. Say hi to LEO for us.

Bette, It was fun living across the street from the Herkins. 
Being a nurse you had to work odd hours and I babysat your kids on the weekends at 5 am when Leo had to leave for work and you didn’t get off work until 8. It’s an incredible person to be a nurse and you also were the epitome of motherhood. God Bless all of the Herkins Clan now and always.

Bette, thank you for always welcoming me with open arms every summer growing up and as an adult when I got to visit with you. I'm so happy you got to meet Joseph. My visits will not be the same without your presence. You will be greatly missed. I will forever cherish you.
