Cornell Anthony Sarpy was born on August 26, 1962 at St. Francis Hospital in Lynwood, California, to the proud parents of Louis and Edna Sarpy. Cornell was the baby of the bunch and was welcomed home by his older siblings Louis, Wayne, Sheryl and Glenn.
Cornell attended St. Anselm’s Catholic School, transitioned to Inglewood public school system and later attended Cerritos High School.
One time, some of the family was vacationing in Hawaii. Cornell was just 16 years old, but due to looking older, most times he was able to enjoy a drink. There was one moment that he was carded and pulled out a fake ID with his brother Wayne’s name. This would have worked like a charm, but Wayne was also sitting at the table with his real ID. Needless to say, Cornell went thirsty that night.
Settling into adulthood, Cornell worked a few different jobs until he decided to be in business for himself doing something he loved. Cornell had a business as a handyman serving the Orange County area. This business was appropriately named “Mister C’s Haul and Do All”. Cornell operated this business for the past 30 years enjoying time in the community and having many repeat customers.
During this life, Cornell was blessed with a beautiful daughter named Jasmine on January 13, 1990. Time went on and his family grew larger with twins, Marc and Monica born April 14, 1994. Cornell was loved dearly by his children for his humor, generous heart and ability to “keep it real”.
In addition to his role as a proud father, Cornell was very special to his nieces and nephew. He proudly wore the title of “The Cool Uncle” and showed support whenever he could.
Cornell was a warm spirit that loved to keep the party going. He made family a priority and could most times be found in the kitchen or at the barbecue grill using food to bring his family together.
Throughout his life, Cornell was heavily involved with his loving parents helping ensure that they were cared for and staying in close proximity.
In his later years, Cornell continued to enjoy cooking, family time, bowling, watching sports, and going out to eat with his friends and cousins.
On June 24, 2023, God wrapped his arms around Cornell and brought him home. Heaven rejoiced celebrating a family reunion with Cornell, his father Louis, mother Edna, sister Sheryl, brothers Louis and Glenn.
Cornell Anthony Sarpy leaves to cherish his memories his children: Jasmine, Monica, and Marc; granddaughter Cusazia; brother Wayne; nieces Kathleen, Alyssa, Elizabeth and nephew Andre, close friends Jeanine and Josh Conant; Sue Motshagen and many others.
