Denis Jimenez

Denis Jimenez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, engineer, and friend, passed away on August 4, 2026, in Orange, California, at the age of 79. He was born on March 6, 1947, in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, a place whose waters and natural beauty remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Denis attended the University of Costa Rica in San José, where he developed his lifelong passion for learning, engineering, and teaching. He went on to serve as a professor of Industrial Maintenance at the University of Costa Rica and worked as a project and mechanical engineer. He was an avid student throughout his life, always curious and eager to understand how things worked. Just as importantly, he loved sharing what he learned with others.

In 1974, Denis married Sarah Molina, beginning a partnership filled with love, family, and countless memories. Together they raised two daughters, Samantha and Georgina, who were a source of tremendous pride and joy to him. His family continued to grow with the addition of his son-in-law, Jeremy Brady, and grandson, Owen Brady, whom he loved dearly.

Denis had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued. He encouraged those around him not only to understand others, but also to make the effort to be understood. He approached people with humility and patience, and his loving and generous nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Food was one of his great loves, and eating was rarely just a meal—it was almost a ritual, an opportunity to savor, share, and connect. He loved to dance to Spanish music, and few things brought him more happiness than being surrounded by good food, music, and people he loved.

Denis was, as his family liked to say, a fish. He loved being in and around water, drawn to it with a natural happiness and peace. His connection to the water was a reflection of something deeper in him: a sense of wonder, curiosity, and joy in the world around him.

He will be remembered for his humility, patience, generosity, intellect, and love, but most of all for the way he made people feel. Denis believed in learning, in sharing knowledge, in listening, and in treating others with dignity and kindness. His lessons extended far beyond the classroom, and the wisdom and warmth he shared will continue through the people whose lives he touched.

Denis was preceded in death by his father, Juan Rafael Jimenez Barboza, and his mother, Margarita Guido Medina.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Jimenez; daughters Samantha Jimenez and Georgina Brady; son-in-law Jeremy Brady; and grandson Owen Brady.

Though he is deeply missed, Denis's life continues in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, the meals and music he shared, and the many people who were made to feel valued simply by knowing him.
