Born on December 25, 1937, in Beirut, Lebanon, Eddie lived a life defined by dedication, ingenuity, and love for his family. He immigrated to the United States and built a life centered on hard work, service, and the people he cherished most.
Eddie shared a remarkable love story with his beloved wife, June Hamze. Their journey began with a chance meeting at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and from that moment forward they built a beautiful life together. Married for 59 years, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories until June's passing in 2024.
A talented engineer by profession, Eddie was known for his intelligence, determination, and ability to solve nearly any problem. Family and friends often joked that he could "fix" anything—and more often than not, he did. Whether repairing a household item, building a project from scratch, or finding a creative solution to a difficult challenge, Eddie approached every task with patience, skill, and resourcefulness.
His favorite place was his beloved "shack," where he spent countless hours making, repairing, and building things with his hands. He had a passion for woodworking, gardening, playing cards, and cheering on the sport he loved most—soccer. During the 1970s, he devoted many years to coaching youth soccer, positively impacting the lives of countless young athletes. He also enjoyed simple pleasures, including spending time with family and enjoying something sweet.
Above all else, Eddie was a devoted family man. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by those he loved. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose steady presence, wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed.
Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June Hamze; granddaughter, Mandi Patea; brothers, Fouad Hamze and Ramez Hamze; and sister, Afaf Jamal.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Halette and Robert Patea; daughter and son-in-law, Donia and David Garcia; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Gloria Hamze; grandchildren, Malori Gutierrez, Maci Zercher, Nick Patea, Morgan Patea, Kory Garcia, Jessica Von Vietinghoff, Theo Garcia, Seth Hamze, Gavin Hamze, and Abbey Hamze; great-grandchildren, Wesley Gutierrez and Noemi Gutierrez; and his brothers, Riad Hamze and Bahij Hamze, who are twins.
Though his hands built and repaired many things throughout his life, the greatest thing Eddie built was a family grounded in love, strength, and devotion. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the Main Chapel at Westminster Memorial Park.
A committal service will immediately follow in the Mausoleum of Eternal Light.
Family and friends are invited to the reception at Westminster Memorial Park Hospitality Room immediately following, as they gather to celebrate Eddie's life and share cherished memories.
