Butch graduated from Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, California, and went on to pursue his calling in ministry and Christian leadership. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Church Ministry from Pacific Christian College and a Master’s degree in Christian Leadership and Ministry from Hope International University.
In 1994, Butch met the love of his life, Pamela Jean Ellis, at a Bible study at EV Free Fullerton. The two were married on April 8, 1995, and built a life centered on faith, family, and service.
Butch faithfully served as a youth pastor for 15 years before joining the staff of Hope International University in 2004. Over the next 22 years, he worked in the admissions department and ultimately served as Director of Graduate and Online Admissions.
Through both ministry and higher education, he touched countless lives with his kindness, encouragement, wisdom, and unwavering faith.
Above all else, Butch loved Christ, his family, and sharing a good story. He enjoyed studying theology, cheering for the Angels, watching his son play Little League baseball, listening to The Beatles, and spending time with his wife, children, and new grandson. He will be remembered as a devoted father, faithful friend, compassionate pastor, and dedicated follower of Christ.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Marilyn Lee Ellis and Harold Marvin Ellis.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Ellis; his daughter, Emma Timmins, and son-in-law, Jared Timmins; his son, Blake Ellis, and daughter-in-law, Adeline Ellis; his daughter, Ireland Ellis; his cherished grandson, Jones Clyde Timmins; and his sisters, Jacklyn Karabaich, Lisa Sutton, and Cindy Ellis.
