She will forever be celebrated and remembered for her zest for life, her infectious laughter, her ever-present smile, and by the love of her family.
Helen was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on March 15, 1923, to Eva Killpack and William Wallace Thomas. She attended Twin Falls High School where she met her future husband, Milo W. Pearson Jr. While in high school, Helen became the first female elected as student body president. After high school, she attended Brigham Young University in Utah, Idaho State College in Pocatello, and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. After their marriage in Twin Falls, Helen and Milo moved to Southern California where her education was put on pause for many years while she raised a family. She later attended and graduated from California State University at Fullerton with her bachelor’s degree and a teaching credential. Finally, Helen received her master’s degree in education from Pepperdine University. She taught fifth grade for over 20 years and loved every minute of it. She retired in 1991 and was able to enjoy many, many years of retirement.
She is proceeded in death by Milo W. Pearson, Jr. (former husband) and Scott David Slater (grandchild).
Helen is survived by her four children; Milo III (Gale), Jan, Mark (Kristin) and Mel (Alicia), including four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Helen will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 12:00 PM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 14271 Locust St., Westminster, CA.
