Imelda was born on December 10, 1958, in Anaco, Venezuela. From her earliest years, she embodied strength, perseverance, and generosity. She wore many hats throughout her life and approached every role—no matter how big or small—with determination and heart.
In Venezuela, she supported her local church by washing and ironing clothes, and later worked for Intel. After immigrating to the United States, she continued working tirelessly, taking on various jobs, including delivering for Domino’s Pizza. Eventually, Imelda focused on furthering her education. She began her healthcare journey in medical billing but soon felt called to do more hands-on work. She earned her nursing license and thrived as a Registered Nurse, often working swing shifts in emergency rooms.
Later in her career, Imelda worked as an assistant for a well-known company. After sustaining a back injury, she returned to her nursing roots, where she continued to serve with compassion—especially in hospice care, bringing comfort and dignity to patients and their families in their most tender moments.
Imelda was a loving and devoted mother to her children—Eusemary Rojas, Juan Rojas, Livia Bustamante, Nykole Vavrick Bloore, and George Galindo Jr.—and a proud grandmother to Edson Martinez, Andres Rojas, Krisbell Valladares, Gabriel Bond, Ovianny Camauta Rojas, Camauta Rojas, Krismary Valladares, Jocelyn Marie Imelda Noa Galindo, and Amaly Bloore. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Patricia Valentina Martinez, Patrick Josue Martinez, and Ana Paula Martinez. Her home was lively and full of love, often shared with her cherished pet dogs: Lady, Tramp, Peaches, Spike, and Rusty.
Imelda brought joy and energy into every room. She had a fun and playful way with words, often inventing her own quirky phrases that would leave everyone laughing. She had a heart full of kindness, a deep well of compassion, and a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and cared for.
At the end of a long day, she loved to unwind with games on her laptop, a bowl of nuts or chocolate nearby, and plenty of laughter at the silly moments. She danced around the kitchen while cooking, sang spontaneously—whether heading to the bathroom or watching her favorite movies—and delighted in crime documentaries, Judge Judy, and any good mystery. She also loved her scratcher tickets, often turning them into cheerful little rituals of hope and fun.
Imelda found peace in the quiet moments too—sitting in her backyard with a cup of coffee, watching birds, or tending to her beloved plants. Her green thumb made even the smallest spaces bloom.
Four words that capture her spirit: loving, steadfast, generous, strong.
A visitation for Imelda will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Westminster Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel. A service celebrating her life will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same chapel, followed by interment in the Garden of Angels at Westminster Memorial Park.
Imelda Mavares lived with faith, resilience, and grace. She touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and love that will never be forgotten.
