Jean Louise Godwin was a force—funny, sharp, a little wild, and unforgettable. She had her own rhythm, her own style, and her own way of doing things. She was fiercely loyal, deeply loving, and totally original. You couldn’t always understand her—but you always felt her.
Jean was a music lover to her core. The soundtrack of her life was filled with bold rock anthems, tender ballads, and soulful, defiant songs that matched her energy. Whether blasting Led Zeppelin or humming something soft at the piano, music was her voice—and it filled her home and her heart.
She loved her garden, and it showed. She knew every flower by name, made regular trips to the nursery, and took joy in nurturing each plant with pride and care. Her backyard was full of color, personality, and love—just like her.
Jean had a strong spirit and an even stronger heart. She cared for her husband, Melvin Daniel Godwin, with devotion. She raised her children with fierce love and stood by her family through everything. She supported, protected, and rooted for us—sometimes with a laugh, sometimes with tough love, but always with her whole self.
She was proud of her family, and she made sure we knew it.
Jean was preceded in death by Melvin, and by two of her daughters, Donajean Godwin and Amy Louise Godwin, whom she now joins in peace. Her granddaughter, Rachel Voris, sends her love from afar and holds Jean in her heart.
Jean Louise Godwin wasn’t just someone you knew—she was someone you remember. Loud, loving, fierce, and full of soul. We will miss.
