Joan Frances Lenz

Joan attended St. Anthony’s High School in Long Beach and later attended California State University, Long Beach. She was also a devoted parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Costa Mesa, where her faith was an important part of her life.

On November 12, 1960, she married William Lenz. The two met at a party, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, family, and many cherished memories.

For many years, Joan devoted herself to her home and family. She was a wonderful homemaker who took great pride in cooking, caring for her home, and, most importantly, being there for her family. She and William raised three children, James, Patricia, and Paul.

As her children grew older, Joan embarked on an inspiring new chapter in her life. She returned to school and earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Her determination and perseverance were remarkable, and her family was so proud of her accomplishments. She went on to work for the Santa Ana Unified School District, first as an administrative assistant and later as a teacher, a career she dedicated herself to for more than 20 years.

Joan will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her strength, and her courage. She was loving, nurturing, selfless, and devoted to the people she cared about. She was always there for her family, offering love, support, and encouragement. Her determination to return to school, earn her degrees, and become a teacher was an inspiration to those around her. As she grew older, she continued to demonstrate an incredible strength and perseverance.

Joan enjoyed reading, walking, sunbathing, and spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her great joy. Above all, her greatest legacy is the love she gave to her family and the countless memories she created throughout her life.

Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Lenz; her sister, Caryl Frontahl; her father, Everett Denevan; and her mother, Trella Denevan.

She is survived by her children, James Lenz, Patricia Field, and Paul Lenz, as well as her grandchildren and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Main Chapel, with a committal service afterward at Westminster Memorial Park in the Garden of Angels.

Joan leaves behind a life defined by love, devotion, perseverance, and strength. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
