John Michael Tomaka

John Michael Tomaka entered eternal rest on November 14, 2017 in Seal Beach, California, after a long struggle that began when he suffered a stroke in 2006. A visitation will be held at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary on Friday November 24, 2017 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm in the Lilac room. A memorial service will take place on Saturday November 25, 2017 at 12:00pm in the Main Chapel at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary, followed by a graveside service.

John was born on October 4, 1945, to Paul and Stacia Tomaka in Buffalo, New York. After graduating from high school in 1965, he traveled to California with two buddies and stayed for the next 52 years. He worked for Aerojet until he joined the army in 1968. While in the army, he graduated from NCO school and was sent to Camp Rose, Korea, in July 1968. He served in the 1st Battalion 72nd Armor and was honorably discharged in 1970. He continued to work for Aerojet and also began his career with Montgomery Ward, where he held management positions in automotive, major appliances and personnel. After nearly 30 years, Montgomery Ward closed and he went on to work for Sears until 2006. John was a talented, successful salesman, who enjoyed talking to people.

John and Lynn were married in Garden Grove, CA, on August 6, 1977. They were blessed with two children, who are part of an extended family that includes a grandmother, as well as a multitude of aunts, uncles and cousins. John is survived by his wife, Lynn; his children Carolyn and Robert; his cousin Jane, of Florida; his niece and nephew, Karla and Paul, of Texas; and his nephew and niece, Norman and Stacie, of Florida.
