Kenneth Lee Bazal passed away on August 7, 2026, in Huntington Beach, California, at the age of 85. He was born on December 22, 1940, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and made Huntington Beach his home for most of his life.
Ken was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared 64 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Billie Kaye Bazal. Their marriage reflected commitment and care for one another, as well as a devotion to their family that remained at the center of their lives.
Ken was a hardworking man who could always be counted on. He believed that love was an action word, and whenever someone in his family needed help, Ken was there. Whether repairing a car, fixing an appliance, or solving an electronic problem, he was the family’s reliable go-to person. He didn’t simply offer to help—he showed up and got it done.
Service to others was part of Ken’s life from an early age. He was heavily involved with the Reverend A. A. Allen Revival Ministry, helping with transportation, setting up the tent, and installing sound systems. His willingness to work behind the scenes and do whatever was needed reflected the same spirit of service that characterized his life.
Ken graduated from Banning High School and continued his education through local college studies, pursuing lifelong learning and advancement in the field of water sciences. He provided more than 30 years of service to the City of Huntington Beach Water Department, where he advanced to the position of Inspector of Public Works. He eventually retired to devote more time to caring for Billie Kaye and spending time with his grandchildren.
Ken adored his grandchildren and made being present for their lives a priority. He and Billie Kaye often traveled across the country in their RV to visit grandchildren who sometimes lived thousands of miles away. No distance was too great when it meant being there for an important event in their lives.
One of Ken’s favorite ways to spend time with his grandchildren was taking them to all-you-can-eat buffets. The food was only part of the reason. Sitting across the table from them gave him their full attention, and he loved hearing what was happening in their lives. In his own special way, food was Ken’s love language.
Ken also had a passion for videography. He filmed local football games, family events, and municipal activities throughout Huntington Beach, creating a lasting record of the people and community he cared about.
Ken is survived by his children, Keri Jones and Kenneth Bazal Jr.; his son-in-law, Gregory Jones, M.D.; his grandchildren, Kevin Jones and his wife, Ashley Jones, Ethan Jones, Alissa Jones, and Rea Bazal.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Billie Kaye Bazal; his parents, Leo T. Bazal and Juanita Bazal; and his brother, Donald Bazal.
Ken will be remembered as a man who showed his love by being present, dependable, and willing to help. He was a fixture in his family—a person everyone knew they could turn to. For Ken, love was not merely something to say. It was something to do. And he did it faithfully, reliably, and with all his heart.
His Lord said unto him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:23
