Kevin G. Reilly of Lakewood, CA, an Import Customer Service Representative for OOCL, passed away on Friday May 1, 2015 at Kindred Hospital Westminster CA, after a hard fought battle with cancer, he was 66 years old.
The son of the late Patrick and Dorothy Reilly, he was born on September 8, 1948 in New York City, the second of six children. He was raised in Astoria, NY where he attended St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School and Mater Christi High School (now St. John’s Preparatory). He graduated from Manhattan Community College with a degree in business before moving to California.
Kevin loved sports, especially football. He lived in CA but still rooted for his native teams: the NY Jets and, in baseball, the NY Yankees. He was an avid reader and his favorite authors included Nelson DeMille and Dean Koontz.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Dorothy, as well as his younger brother Danny. He is survived by his brothers Patrick, of East Aurora NY, and Michael (Luanne) of Brighton MI, his sisters Kathleen, of Henderson NV, and Maureen Hopkins (Danny) of New Hampton, NY, four nephews, six nieces, three grandnephews, one (soon to be two) grandnieces, several Godchildren, as well as numerous coworkers and friends.
A funeral Mass will be offered for the repose of his soul, on Saturday June 6, 2015 at 11:15 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church 21-17 45th St Astoria, NY 11105. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday June 27, 2015 at the Original Roadhouse Grill 7391 Carson Blvd. Long Beach, CA 90808. Friends and coworkers are invited to attend to share stories and reminisce about Kevin.
