Margaret Louise Hansen (Peterson), “Grandma Grit”, 80 years young, peacefully found her way home on March 7, 2013. This bright, beautiful, creative and caring Scandinavian spirit was born on December 26, 1932, in Ballard- Seattle, the youngest and last remaining of 6 beloved sisters: Ardis, Mildred, Mary Ann,
June and Ruth. She was a gourmet cook (known for her famous Swedish Spritz cookies), an avid reader and enjoyed fine dining. She had exquisite taste and a great appreciation for high-style fashion, elegant decor and living the good life. Marge was ”first class” all the way. She loved her home in Seal Beach and so enjoyed her beautiful view of the olive trees and sweet little bunnies in her park. Through the years many have been warmed by her loving gifts of expertly knitted and crocheted creations such as afghans, hats, and slippers. She married and spent many years with Jack, her childhood sweetheart and father of her children. When asked what brought her the most joy, she answered, “Having a real nice family,” which includes her cherished children: Darlene “Dudes”, Ron (Nicole), Karen and Johnny (Veronica), (Lindy and Rick). Also her deeply loved grandchildren: Heidi (Mike), Jack (Patti), JJ, Serge, Breana, Shaun (Ashley), Nick, Grant, Brittany, Will, Chris, Alyssa and Hazel. Her adored great grandchildren include: Carson, Kara-Skye, Savannah, Kayla, Zane, Landen, Isabella, Colin, Caden and Lily. She knitted her way into the hearts of so many family members and friends, all of whom she loved dearly and appreciated greatly. She felt truly rich. A very special thank you to Maria; Mom said so many times throughout the years, “She couldn’t have done it without her!”

Margie, totally relaxed, smiling, is enjoying a cool breeze and sharing a glass of wine with her dear friend, Flo. They both agree…“Laughter is the best medicine and Love is the ultimate healer.” As Margie always said, “It’s the truth!” Mom, you will be forever missed.
