Born on March 17, 1955, he spent his early years in Toluca Lake, a quaint neighborhood and village in the City of Los Angeles, attending St. Charles Borromeo School and Notre Dame High School, enjoying time with his family, and learning to golf at Lakeside Golf Club, a passion that would follow him throughout his life.
Mark went on to attend the University of Southern California, where he joined the Sigma Nu Fraternity and enthusiastically supported USC football. He earned his MBA in 1979 from the USC Marshall School of Business. After graduating, Mark began many happy and fulfilling years working alongside his father and best friend, Jack Hennessy, managing family investments and later, as president of Flavorzest Foods, a food products company.
Whether by virtue of his Irish heritage or the luck of being born on St. Patrick’s Day, Mark developed a strong love for Ireland and Irish Culture and traveled often to the country. He joined an Irish dance team in Los Angeles, competing both nationally and internationally and earning numerous distinguished awards with the group—an experience that perfectly blended his love of Irish culture, camaraderie, and music. He also actively supported the American Ireland Fund for many years.
Mark eventually met the love of his life, Julie Anne Osgood. They were married in 1997 and together, built a life rich with friendship, travel, laughter, and shared experiences. No matter where their travels took them—whether in the United States or abroad—Mark would search for an Irish Pub to enjoy a pint of Guinness. Mark continued his career in asset and financial management with dedication and care until a few years prior to his passing.
Mark will be remembered for his quick wit, endless jokes and quips, contagious laugh, and unwavering devotion to his family. His warmth, humor, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Anne Hennessy; his sisters, Nancy Hoxsey and Lizbeth Hennessy; his nieces, Kendall Onysko, Morgaen Pickett, and Courtney Souza; and his nephew, William Osgood.
