

Miguel was born in Santa Ana, California, to his parents, Josephine Portillo, and Herminio Huizar, both natives of Mexico. He was raised and grew up in Santa Ana, with his siblings. his brother, (Herman), and five sisters (Irma, Carol, Elsa, Stella, and Rosemary) whom he referred to as “kiddo”. Miguel is survived by his son, Miguel Jaime Huizar Jr. and his daughter Angelica Huizar, his 7 grandchildren (Vanessa, Erika, Stephanie (deceased), Jasmine, Brandon, Bryan, and Eric), and 3 great-grandchildren (Anthony Nathan, and Ayden), as well as 14 nieces and nephews. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them as much as possible.
Miguel was always positive and cheerful and had a great sense of humor. He was somewhat of a joker and loved to tell funny stories to family and friends. He enjoyed the holidays, Halloween, Christmas, and family traditions. Miguel was a kind and generous soul who often bought toys for the neighborhood children who loved to come over and play games with him. He liked music and would often play his guitar, his harmonica (which he always kept in his pocket) and dancing, he loved to dance. In First grade he won first prize for doing “The Twist”. He especially liked disco dancing. His son, Miguel remembers the day his dad and mom came home with a 3rd place trophy for disco dancing. They would always have a blast dancing together in the living room.
He was the proud owner of a 1972 Plymouth Fury which he loved. In the 1970’s, he was a member of a truck club called The California Short-beds. He was a huge LAKERS fan. He cherished his cat named “Sweetheart”. Churches Fried Chicken was one of Miguel’s favorite foods.
Miguel was a dedicated hard worker, who rarely missed a day and very much enjoyed the company of his co-workers. Especially Ray Mendoza, his co-worker and cherished friend who he loved like a brother. Miguel was a spiritual person, who was always happy. He loved life, and emanated a positivity that made him a joy to be around. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Services scheduled will include a visitation on September 10, 2016 from 11:30 to 1:30 , held at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, California, in the main chapel and a funeral service which will begin immediately following the visitation at 1:30pm in the main chapel.
