Mildred Jacobs Newland, age 94, went to her heavenly resting place Thursday, September 19, 2024. She was born February 28, 1930 in Beedeville, Arkansas in Jackson County which was a small farming community.
Her parents Joseph Ridley and Cora Bell Hutson Jacobs were farmers that raised cotton, rice and soybean fields. She was one of ten children with stories of picking cotton, sacks that weighed as much as she did. She had three brothers and six sisters, being survived by one sister, Laverne Robbins who lives in Forrest City, Arkansas.
Preceded in death by three husbands. Grover Alton Lovelady, Edward Gerald Paxton, and Howard Thane Newland.
In her life she worked the land and was a business owner. She raised vegetables, livestock, chickens and most importantly, nine beloved children.
She loved and was beloved by her children, their spouses and many grandchildren. She cherished being the matriarch of five generations of descendants, she was able to enjoy within her lifetime.
She is survived by all of her children. Grover Wayne Lovelady, Bruce Terry Lovelady, Daniel Lewis Lovelady, Deborah Lynn Brinkman, Pamela Ann Bowie, Brenda Helen Lovelady-Beers, Mary Gail Lovelady, William Harold Paxton and Edward Gerald Paxton, Jr.
She has 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was dedicated to her family, loved God and worked hard her whole life. She had a great sense of humor, hated snakes, enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, picking berries, canning and was known for her storytelling, enjoyed gospel and country music and loved to dance.
