Nancy L. Johnson

Nancy was born on November 15, 1934, at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Indiana. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Helen Prugh. Nancy was the third of 5 children. As a young girl, Nancy contracted Scarlett Fever. The disease left her very sick and kept her out of school for a year.

Nancy attended Elkhart High School where, during her sophomore year, she met the love of her life -Herb Johnson. Nancy and Herb dated through high school and continued dating while Herb went away to Purdue University. They married in 1956 while Herb was at Purdue and gave birth to their first born (Michael Steven) in the summer before Herb’s senior year. Three years later they had their second son (Joseph Edward) and one year later their third son (Scott Alan).

In 1963, Herb and Nancy packed up the family and moved to Southern California, eventually settling in the city of Upland. Nancy cherished her role as full time homemaker and mother. By 1971, Nancy and Herb had moved the family to Fountain Valley. Nancy’s role as homemaker included shuttling three active boys to baseball and football practices and games, as well as regular trips to the beach. She cherished the time spent with her boys. Sadly, in 1978 Nancy lost the love of her life. Herb passed away after a very short battle with lung cancer.

By 1980, Nancy had taken on a new role in her life: career woman. Her career eventually led her to Wilchem Inc. where she worked as an inside salesperson and office manager before retiring in 2001.

Throughout her adult life, Nancy’s primary passion was her family - sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren - all of whom hold a special place in their heart for Nancy.

Nancy is survived by sons Mike (Robin), Joe (Jackie), Scott (Nancy), her grandchildren Sean (Sarah), Ryan (Brianna), Jason (Teryn), Samantha (Taylor), Steven, Krystal, Chelsea (Thales),Cassidy (Jose), and 11 great grandchildren.

A visitation and chapel service will begin Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel with a graveside service to follow. Arrangements under the direction of Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd. Westminster, CA 92683. (714) 893-2421
