

Phyllis Jean Stricklin Bartimore Bradford, 88 of Huntington Beach died Monday November 7, 2016 in her home of cancer. Born January 19, 1928 in Whittier, California to parents Oscar and Sadie Stricklin, Phyllis was the youngest of five siblings that included brothers Carl, Raymond “Pete”, Oscar and sister Wanda.
Phyllis attended K thru 8th grades in Huntington Beach, graduating Class of 1946 from Huntington Beach High School, briefly attending Fullerton College before marrying Leonard “Lenny” Bartimore for 28 years, including being blessed with three loving daughters, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren
Phyllis was a stay at home mom and helped her father manage “The Ranch” a stable for girls to board their horses. She was an excellent seamstress, loved playing the card game Bridge with her friends, along with many New Years Eve gatherings.
In her 50’s Phyllis became a successful Farmers Insurance Agent, married Robert “Bob” Bradford who preceded her in death in 1984. She loved to cook, sew, knit and won many awards for her beautiful needlepoint artwork from the Orange County Fair. After retirement she loved spending time at home reading books, watching her grandchildren, attending swim class at the City Gym and enjoying lunch outings with her swim girls.
Phyllis brought warmth, kindness and sincerity and those around her felt the genuine love and enthusiasm she had for her family. Words cannot convey how much she will be missed. She is always in our hearts and we will always feel her love.
Phyllis is survived by daughters Lynne (Bruce), Leslie and Lori, nine grandchildren Sarah, Eric, Travis, Rebecca, Paul, Wes, Drew, Kala and Cole, thirteen great grandchildren Kalie, Austin, Kaden, Lexi, Jack, Owen, Alina, Trey, Megan, Ethan, Alex, Tank and Emily.
