Bob, as he was known to his friends and family, was born in London, England on October 21, 1947 to Patrick and Pam Elick Kelly. Bob’s father Patrick was an Irishman from County Cork and his mother Pam hailed from Shovington, England. The Kelly family crossed the Atlantic when Bob was age 2; first landing on Ellis Island, then in Boston, and briefly in Chicago before finally settling in Southern California.
After spending some of Bob's childhood years in Bell Gardens, the Kellys eventually landed in Huntington Beach, where Bob graduated from Huntington Beach High School. Bob served in the National Guard for six years during the Vietnam War. Following his service, Bob followed his passion for surfing to Honolulu, Hawaii where he lived and worked in property management for twelve years. During his time in Honolulu, Bob met the love of his life, Suzanne ("Suzie") Adam. Bob and Suzie were married on Balboa Island, California in 1990.
An avid surfer since age 9, Bob also loved sailing, camping in his RV, practicing his photography skills with his impressive collection of vintage cameras, and “treasure hunting" at the local flea markets. Bob was known to his nieces and nephews as a history buff and an avid book collector. Bob and Suzie visited dozens of countries in their 30-year marriage. They enjoyed working on their rental properties and vacationing at their second home in Arizona.
Bob is survived by his wife Suzanne (Adam) Kelly of Huntington Beach, his brother David Kelly of Huntington Beach, many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Pam Kelly.
Per Bob’s wishes a memorial service for immediate family is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation: https://www.npcf.us/donate-volunteer/ways-to-donate/donate/.
