“Sorrells” I would often hear as I stepped out of my music classroom at monte vista.  It was that deep friendly voice of  “Robert” motoring past me on his way to fix, replace, or do something connected with his job.  

Many times Robert would pop in my classroom to take care of some routine care and if time permitted we would talk about our “youngins.” – it was always the topic of the hour – our families!! - he was very proud of his kids and was always more than willing to show me the latest pictures of his grandchildren or give me updates on what his kids were doing.  

Like many people, I learn a lot by watching others, and Robert was no exception.  I would often see Robert going about his business, whether it was at the lunch tables cleaning up, or any of his other duties at monte vista I'd think to myself: “now there’s a guy who knows his job, priorities, keeps his nose clean, stays away from the drama and mind’s his own business.” I'd literally say to myself: “Mike, you need to be more like him!”

In mid March, I asked Robert for a favor..to please set up the tiered choir risers on the stage in the MPR   He said “Yeah, I’ll take care of it.”  

On Friday March 31st Robert walked by me and said Sorrells, I’ll take care of those risers before I leave today.”  I said “thank you” and we wished each other the best during our spring break.  So, over the break I got the news of Roberts passing..and like all of us here..it was tough to hear and a real shock..

After spring break, I walked into the MPR to check on things, and sure enough there stood those heavy choir risers setup on the stage – just like he said they would be.  It was probably one of the last duties that Robert did at the school.  

But that was Robert, a man of his word, hard working and true.  We can all learn a few things about life from watching a guy like Robert, I know I did and I am grateful for it – he was a good one and he’ll be greatly missed by all of us who knew,  loved and respected him.

These past few daysI have been looking at all the pictures and comments about my cousin Tito. It is obvious that he was a
Loved by all that had the privilege to know him. A beautiful human being with a huge heart and a smile to match. He leaves a legacy behind that is worthy of imitation. I am proud to call him, “my cousin Tito “. May Jehovah God be with you all at this time. 

I am truly blessed to have had an uncle like Uncle Robert in my life. He has made me laugh and smile with his wonderful personality. He was a great man, always providing for his family and giving them the best lives they could have. I will truly miss him and the warmth he brought to the room.

On March 3rd we celebrated 33 years of marriage.  God gave us three sons - Roberto Antonio, Nicholas Adam, and Aaron Marcus.  We were blessed with two grandsons, Ozzie and Jack and one beautiful daughter-in-law, Ashley.  Robert loved his family so so much.  He wanted everyone to meet his grandsons.
  I choose to focus on how blessed we were as a family and how we will move forward holding on to the precious memories we created.  He never shied away from telling us he loved us.  He didn’t hold resentments or grudges.  He was honest in his interactions with those around him.  That is how we all should live our lives.  I won’t say goodbye because I know one day we will meet again.   We were a great team and I will always love you.

What a loss to family and friends. Robert touched many people with his positive smile and personality. He was a special person who help raise a wonderful family.  He left a legacy of what life should be about with others to follow up with his positive friendly approach to life. God be with Robert and we will meet together again someday!

It’s still too difficult to accept that I will never hug my beloved cousin Tito. As everyone has stated, Tito embodied joy and unconditional love. He will forever live in my memories.  Love, Charlene

Other than his mother, Tía Paulina, I have had the pleasure of knowing Tito the longest amount of time. Being the eldest cousin, I held Baby Robertito in my arms.

We Cuellar kids were one for one & one for all. My last wrestling scratch match was when I was 12. Since then we watched out for each other & there for each other. I will miss my brothers.

Words will never be enough to ease the pain everyone must be feeling.  Robert was a very loved person in the work environment and was always a helpful person. My most sincere condolences the whole family. May he Rest in paradise.

I will forever be grateful for the 20 years I got to spend with my dad. There's no greater role model in my life, and I can never thank him enough for everything he did for my family and I. My dad always had positive, infectious energy, and his presence was felt at every gathering he attended. On the rare occasion that he couldn't make it to an event, the first thing people would always ask me was "Where's your dad?". He treated everyone like family, but he always wanted nothing more than to spend time with his own. He always encouraged me to go above and beyond in my life, but at the end of the day, he just wanted me to be happy and was always my biggest supporter.

I already miss him dearly, but it brings me comfort knowing that he is now reunited with his dad and brother. I love you Dad, and I look forward to the day we finally meet again.


I first met Robert over 30 years ago when Brenda invited me to Zachary’s second birthday party. I remember immediately how friendly Robert was to me and my son.
Welcoming us with his huge smile. He kindly included us in all the activities, joking with us to put us at ease. Robert had a way of making people feel noticed and important. The Cuellar home struck me as a place filled with laughter and joy. As I scrolled thru the pictures today  I realized how very true that is. I see the love, joy and laughter in all the happy faces. What a blessing to have been known and loved by Robert. Dear Great and Wonderful God, I pray You will provide     refuge, strength and shelter to the Cuellar

I thank God for giving me the privilege of getting to know Robert. Always a very loved and humbled human being.  I've had a few real friendships with great human beings and I considered Robert a great friend. Robert was like a gentle giant full of love and respect for all. The small times he shared about his life, I can sense how proud and in love he was with all his family. He also showed me that his faith in God was immense.  His energy would light up the whole room with just his presence. He always made Shure to ask about how we were doing. Robert was the 1st person I saw and greeted me the morning  and the last one who said see you tomorrow. Roberts friendship has inspired me to be a better human being. My condolences to his entire family and mother. We lost someone truly amazing, May God fill all your hearts with peace and may time heal your souls. R.I.P Robert. One of my current regrets is that I was unable to simply thank my father for how much he loved me.  He truly was a mentor; he genuinely lived for his family and worked tirelessly to ensure we were cared for.  I always felt prioritized and supported, and I thank God that I had such a perfect example of how a loving father should treat his family.  He also had an incredible attachment to my wife and son, and made sure that they felt valued and appreciated. He genuinely cared about making meaningful connections with those around him.

My father was a true inspiration, and I'll miss his warmth, kindness, and guidance.

It was so wonderful to have a special few minutes to dance with Robert at my wedding. We were able to reminisce on our blessed our families were to have known each other for so long

Even though Robert “Machete” , only knew me for a little less than 7-years, he was always warm, inviting, and loving each time. Never a mean thing to say, and always thanked me and Nicholas’ friends for showing Nicholas love. 

He never squandered a moment to let someone know he loved and cared for them. 

My only regret is not having known him sooner.

Dear Family and Friends.  I worked at Monte Vista Elementary before retring in 2015.  I was fortuate enough to work with Robert. 
 I remember how he always met us each day with a contagious smile a kind word and  a helping hand.  It was an honor to have worked with him.  I know he will be greatly missed by those that knew him.


We raised our boys from First grade at Greenville, MacArthur and Segerstrom, alongside one and other. We were both so happy and excited to see each other after too many years that we let pass. Luckily our son's did not. I do thank God for letting me enjoy your wonderful spirit and friendship one last time on this earth. You will always be in our hearts, until we too are invited to be with our Lord. Thank you for a wonderful friendship through the years Robert. Your Friend Always Fernando "Ferny" Barrios. 

To my Tio Tito -  Thank you for treating me like a princess and reminding me of my worth every opportunity you got. Thank you for loving me like one of your own, and always being there to offer me loving guidance and tough love in the same sentence. Being your niece has been the honor of a lifetime. I love you forever Tio.  

Robert's passing is a great loss, as he had a unique personality that will be dearly missed. He was a warm-hearted individual who would always greet you with a big hug and ask about others' well-being. I feel fortunate that I was able to see him one last time, just a week before he passed. During our get-together, we enjoyed a drink while he kept me updated on the latest chisme. I will always cherish the memories of him.  Love you big guy!!

Querido Cuñado Roberto.- Gracias por ser un hombre tan humilde de corazón, todo el tiempo trataste a todas las personas con cariño, respeto y humildad. Todos y cada uno de mi familia te quisimos mucho, ellos han quedado como yo impactados con tu repentina e inesperada partida. Gracias a Dios porque nos permitió estar contigo en tu último cumpleaños. Such a great person, I had a long time without seeing him but I have great memories from him and his family!
