RUSSELL BRIAN DUDEVOIR was born on November 15, 1939 in Massachusetts and lived with his family in Chelmsford, Mass. Russell attended trade school in Lowell where he learned machine shop. Coined as “Russell the Muscle” in his high school yearbook, he was a natural at all sports and loved the outdoors. It was at a basketball game where he met his wife, Eileen, of 60 years. They were married on October 24, 1959. They raised four kids, Linda, Brian, David and Kevin in Tyngsboro, Mass until they moved to California in 1976.
Once there, Russell obtained his teaching credential and became a machine shop instructor at Santa Ana College. In the 80s, Russell opened his own machine shop, ARB.CO., which lasted a few years until he returned to teaching at NTMA in Norwalk, CA where he stayed until retired in 2007. Once retired, they enjoyed traveling to the East Coast to visit family and to Las Vegas. Once Eileen fell ill in 2008, Russell dutifully became her caretaker until her passing in 2020. After that, he was never the same as he was grief stricken from his loss. Sadly, less than 5 months later, Russell passed away from cardiac issues while in the hospital waiting for heart surgery. Perhaps, he died from a broken heart.
Russell was quite the character with a big personality, quick wit and dry sense of humor. He teased everyone he knew about something and could make anyone laugh with his dad jokes. He was generous, opinionated and proud he was old school. He often shared stories of his antics and glory days. He was glad he lived in the time that he did and would shake his head and say “I yi yi” at the world news.
Russell is survived by his sister Gail Chandonnait of Lee, Maine and brother Ron Dudevoir of Andover, Mass., his 4 children, 11 grandkids and 18 great-grandchildren who live on both coasts.
He also has lots of nieces and nephews on both coasts along with many lifelong friends who could tell a story or two about him. Sadly, most of those stories are from the many special people who passed before him. He joins his beloved parents and sisters, Arlene, Dianne and Sandy in the afterlife.
Gone but not forgotten, Rest In Peace, Russell.
