Thorvald "Tory" Karl Zimmerman

Tory was born on January 7, 1937 to Francis "Zip" and Ruby Christensen Zimmerman in Logan, Utah. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tory served a full-time mission in the Southern States Mission and also served in the United States Army & Air Force.

Prior to receiving his Masters Degree from USC, Tory earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University, where he met his wife, Vicki Bean, on the ballroom dance team.

The two had seven children. Tory later married Dora Sorenson.

Prior to his retirement, Tory worked as a systems engineer in the aerospace industry.

In addition to time spent in church service, Tory enjoyed surfing, dancing, martial arts, and music. He played unusual instruments such as the slide guitar and ukulele. Later in life he received a series 7 securities trading license and spent time analyzing the stock market.

Tory is survived by wife, Dora; children, Patricia (Eric) Bear, Michael (Tiffany) Zimmerman, Julie (Rod) Waller, Jacqui (Kendall) Jacobs, John (Jessica) Zimmerman, James (Loran) Zimmerman, and Nikki (Mike) Hansen, whom he shared with his former wife, Vicki; twenty-five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-children, Eric Stoner, and Julie Stoner; and siblings, Luise Peterson, Charlene (Ross) Cole, and Thomas (Patti) Zimmerman.

A memorial service for Tory will be held Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12742 Lampson Ave., Garden Grove, CA 92840. A visitation will occur Friday, December 23, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683. A graveside service will occur Friday, December 23, 2022 at 12:45 PM at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683.
