Willie Eugene Underwood

Willie Eugene Underwood “Gene”, 79, of Laguna Hills passed away July 1, 2012. Gene passed peacefully after battling various health issues. He is survived by his wife Carole of Laguna Hills CA, sons David of Orange CA and Robert of Canton GA, 7 grandchildren, and brother; William of Waynesville, NC. Gene was predeceased by his son Stephen of Moreno Valley, CA and brother Monte of Waynesville, NC. Gene was born Dec 5th 1932 in Waynesville NC to Samuel and Ruth Underwood. He married his wife Carole Hogue on October 10th 1954. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1955, he went to North Carolina State University graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1959. He moved to Southern California in 1962, finally settling in Laguna Hills, CA in 1970. He worked in the Aerospace, Energy and Consulting fields for over 50 years. Gene held several leadership positions in the American Society of Quality Control (ASQC). He was a faithful member of Shepherd of the Hills UMC of Mission Viejo CA. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. Services will be Saturday July 28 at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills UMC Chapel..
