He lived in Rocky Mountain House until the passing of his father in 1976. After which Yvette and her three small children moved back to Assiniboia, where she could find support. It was there that Yvette met Randy Pennington and eventually moved to Moose Jaw, where Damon grew up and graduated high school and also went on to complete his training at SIAST in carpentry.

Damon met the love of his life Janelle in 1991, and it didn't take long for them to start their lives together. Janelle and Damon moved around southern Saskatchewan and finally set down roots in Weyburn.

Damon had a passion and a love for baseball, golfing, fishing and camping. Damon also had a very special way with words and often found himself creating beautiful poetry. He truly had a gift! Damon was a great dad who loved spending time with his children, Dylan and Megan doing the things they all enjoyed together such as discovering waterfalls, hiking and gold panning.
