

Emil was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Johanna Buss in 2006, his parents: William & Wilhelmena Buss, daughter-in-law: Doreen Buss, brother: Arthur Buss, sisters: Mildred Buss and Ida Zielke, brother-in-laws: August Zielke, Pete Williams, Norman Friedman, Edmond Deimert, William Deimert, Ed Hartung, Eric Hill, Steve Bayerle, sister-in-laws: Flo Buss, Mena Bayerle, Erna Deimert.
Emil will be lovingly remembered by his children and their families: Gaylord (Macel) Buss, Coconut Creek, Florida and their children: Brent (Tamara), Amanda (Tommy), Bobby (Gail), Ilah (Patrick), Brenda (Gordon) Silver, Ft Saskatchewan, AB and their son Justin, Colleen (Brent) Christopherson, Lang, SK, and their children: Paddy (Tracy), Cory (Terrill), Wade (Bonnie);
Warren (Wendy) Buss, Medicine Hat, AB and their children: Shane (Nicki), Chantel, Shawn (Jonell), Cristi (Mike)
Myrna (Allan) Cooper and their children: Darcy (Krystle), Sheldon (Carlie), DJ (Amy), Danielle (Sheldon), Lindsay (Bo), Joren (Ryan), Brianne; 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Sister and brother: Irene Friedman and George Buss

Emil Buss was born on December 30, 1913 in Beausejour, MB. Emil was the eldest of the family. The William Buss family moved to Lang in 1924. Emil attended Crocus Plains School. At the age of 13 Emil worked for Earl Guthiel in the summer of 1928 and started working for Lou Knouse in the harvest of 1929. In 1938 Emil worked with his dad in the Drey Business. On October 31, 1938, Hallowe'en night, Emil climbed a telephone pole trying to impress Johanna Deimert, which led to a romance and engagement in December the same year. Emil & Johanna were married Oct 3, 1939. Emil worked for Bloetchers and also the George Burge Butcher Shop in Weyburn from 1939-1941. Gaylord was born while Emil & Johanna lived in Weyburn. Emil worked at the Weyburn Flour Mills in 1942-43. In the spring of 1943 he moved to the Lieske farm at Lang to help out with seeding, etc. In the fall he also helped Lou Knouse with harvest and in 1945 rented land from Lou and started farming.
He supplemented his farm income by working for the Rural Telephone Company and driving school bus. Emil and Johanna drove school bus in the Lang area for 28 years. He also served on many church & community boards including, Co-op, Credit Union, Lang School, Hillcrest Bible School and Echo Lake Camp. He was actively involved in the Lang Evangelical Church and the Weyburn Free Methodist Church. Emil was a hard working, honorable, respected man who had a spark of teasing and humor. He was well known for his generosity and gift of hospitality that both he and Johanna shared with numerous friends, pastors and strangers. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and community when needed. Emil loved playing ball, curling and taking bus loads of kids to camp. His devotion to God was a priority - prayer, Bible study and devotions were a daily practice.
Friends and Family are welcome for visitation on Wednesday night 7-9 at Fletcher's Funeral Home in Weyburn.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30th at 2pm at Lang Community Hall, Lang, Sk. Interment to follow at the Lang Cemetery.
