Jean Marie Hay (nee Bornholdt) passed away peacefully August 15, 2018 at the age of 92, at Weyburn, Saskatchewan. She was born May 3, 1926 in Weyburn to Bill and Margaret (Temple) Bornholdt. They later moved to the family farm at Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan. Jean took her schooling at Yellow Grass. On June 10, 1946 she married Nelson Hay in Elk River, Minnesota with many special relatives in attendance. They lived at the Hay farm of Archie and Harriet, farming their land. They had four children: Marilyn born in 1947, Neil 1949, Diane in 1952, and Murray(George) 1956. In 1964 the family purchased the hardware store in Yellow Grass and moved to town. As the business failed Nelson took a job and Jean ran the store until the store closed. Nelson and Jean moved to Radville, Saskatchewan in 1970 where Jean worked at Radville Pharmacy and Carles Store. The made many great friendships during their 12 year stay there. In 1982 they returned home to retire in Yellow Grass. After Nelson passed in 2004Jean lived in the Yellow Grass Senior Housing for 9 years, assisted living in Regina, then Crocus Villa and Tatagwa in Weyburn. Mom loved all the homes she lived in and moved on to each one graciously. She is predeceased by her loving husband Nelson in, son Neil in 1953, her niece Kathy in 2017, and many relatives and friends. Jean is survived by: daughter, Marilyn ( Jim ) Yourex, , Jennifer (Mike) Shaeffer, Andrew, and Nicholas; Candice (Grant) Butz and Luke; daughter Diane (Rick) Muir, Caroline (Blayne) Eger and Mason, Michael (Erin) Muir, Willow and Rhett;
son, Murray (George) (Sue), Jared, Jaclyn(Ethan) Woitas, Bentley, and Ellery Jean; stepchildren, Cory (Becky) Stadnick and family, Kyla (Colin) Tessier and family, Tannis (Jarrold) Kolenz and family, Derek (Jade) Stadnick and family, sister, Margaret (Jack) Hill and family; brothers, Dick (JoAnne) Bornholdt and family, and Ross (Doc) Bornholdt. Mom adored her family, appreciated all her friends and relative, and loved life. May we all learn from her legacy. We have the deepest gratitude for the staff at House 4, Tatagwa View and the Villa for the compassionate care for our mother these past years. You’re all amazing.
