Born in Toronto to parents of Ukrainian descent, strong ties to heritage, beauty, and design were a part of the man we knew as Son, Dad, Husband, Horsey Grandpa, and to many, friend. Passionate about most things he turned his hand at, he carried a love of agriculture with him almost everyday of his life. Kevin found joy in sharing the knowledge gained through his early time on the family farm, studies at the University of Guelph, and operation of his own Cash Crop operation. Beloved daughter Amie came in to his life during these years and the memories made were always a source of pride and joy for him.
As we all know life’s paths aren’t always smooth and often choices to change direction are made. Such a change of direction led Kevin to discover another passion. A move to Bobcaygeon, Ontario resulted in a new vocation of woodworking/carpentry thanks to Clare Davis. Once again paths crossed and the Tomlinson’s provided an opportunity to launch an adventure leading to a successful business building beautiful tack boxes, and eventually architectural trim and cupolas. During this time, a step into the equine world opened doors for both Amie and her dad.
In 1993, after his first visit to the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio, Kevin met his future partner/wife Judy and her daughter Erin at an Ontario Horse Club Awards dinner. With the founding of Country Classics Cupolas life’s journey brought new challenges, friendships and opportunities that shaped the lives of this blended family. Amie married Marcelo Cruz and they have a daughter, Bae. Erin married Seith Monahan and they have two daughters, Emma and Elise. The love and pride Kevin had for his family was clear at the mention of a name or a phone call.
During the last number of years, Kevin became a Journeyman Scaffolder, worked in industrial construction, and returned to agriculture on the prairies.
Life wasn’t always about work for him. Miles on the trail, whether cruising on snowmobile or horseback on Diamond and Jewel, brought him a smile and sense of peace. Happy trails Kevin!
