

On Wednesday, February 17th, 2010, Regina ‘Margaret’ McCracken of Weyburn, Saskatchewan passed away at the Radville Marian Health Centre at the age of 78 years. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Carman and Grace Irwin; two brothers, Carmen and John, two sisters, Adela and Beryl, sisters-in-law, Mary and Hazel Irwin and brother-in-law, Don Lavoie.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Don McCracken and their daughter, Elaine (Brian) Van Ryckeghem of Winnipeg and their two sons, Derek (Jenn) and their children Makana and Brison of the Philippines, and Jeff (Crystal) of Kentucky; brother, Al Irwin of Brandon, sisters, Joyce (Charlie) Johnston and Lola (Charlie) Hingtgen of Saskatoon, sister-in-law, Mary Irwin of Regina, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended families.
Margaret was born March 8th, 1931 at Goodwater, Sask. to Carman and Grace Irwin. They migrated by covered wagon as a family of four, when Margaret was four years old, from Goodwater to Porcupine Plains, Sask. where she was raised. On June 27th, 1964, Margaret became a farmer’s wife when she married Don McCracken in Regina, Saskatchewan. They farmed at Dahinda for 45 years, where she enjoyed being involved in the Ladies’ Circle. She was concerned about the widows and widowers in the community and would always have baking available to take to them. She volunteered as a canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society for many years while living in the community. Margaret enjoyed quilting, cooking and baking, reading and collecting antiques. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by all she loved.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, February 20th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Sylvia Fitzgerald officiating and Elaine Van Ryckeghem gave a tribute to her mom. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. For friends so wishing, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
