Russell Hugh Heaman

Russell Hugh Heaman was born in Starbuck, MB on January 27, 1925. Russell was the middle child in a family of five children and grew up on a family farm in Ontario. He began working on farms at the age of fourteen and came west on harvesters excursions. He quickly fell in love with Saskatchewan and in 1948 he made this province his home.On September 18, 1954 Russell married Susanna Burnett on the Burnett farm near Oxbow, SK. Together they owned and operated their own service station in Glen Ewen, SK and later their own café in Arcola, SK. Eventually he became the grain buyer at Central Canadian Distillers from which he would later retire.

Russell obtained his Mechanics certificate, Fireman’s Certificate and GED. He was also a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and of the Senior Center. Russell was trained in the army but the war ended before he went overseas. He was also an active member of the Free Methodist Church in Weyburn, SK. Russ enjoyed camping, wood working and gardening and in later years he took up snooker, bowling and shuffle board. Russell enjoyed watching a variety of sporting events on T.V.

Dad enjoyed family gatherings and especially the company of young folks. Dad’s humor and smile will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Russell Hugh Heaman late of Weyburn, Saskatchewan passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the age of 86 years.

Russell was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Irene Heaman; brother, Lloyd (Marion) Heaman; sisters, Evelyn (Bob) Edwards and Vera (Harold) Wurm.

Russell is lovingly remembered by his wife, Susanna Heaman of Weyburn, SK; son, Michael Heaman of Edmonton, AB; daughter, Hughlene (Dean) Klassen of Langley, BC; three granddaughters and one great granddaughter; brother, Charles (Margot) Heaman as well as one niece, three nephews and many Burnett in-laws.

A Memorial Service was held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. from the Free Methodist Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Reverend Jay Mowchenko and Pastor Jody Pfeifer officiating. A Private Family Interment was held in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn, Saskatchewan
