Ruth Elaine Geres

May 30, 1947March 30, 2020

With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother after a long battle with Alzheimers disease on March 30, 2020 at the age of 72 years.

Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Anna Marcotte, she leaves behind her loving husband Delmar, who was her greatest champion and caregiver in sickness and in health; son Aaron (Gabriella) and daughter Sarah (Julian); stepchildren Carman, Sherry (Glenn), Mark (Jennifer), Rodney (Marjolain), and her beloved grandchildren Jordan, Kelsey, Matt, Brett, Ben, Alexandre, Tristan, and Martin. She is also survived by her brothers Donald (Carolyn) and Norbert (Mavis) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth grew up in Torquay and graduated from the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina in1968. She spent her career working as a Registered Nurse at the Pasqua Hospital operating room, a profession her daughter would proudly follow her in to. Before her Alzheimers diagnosis she loved nothing more than working in her yard in the summer and spending countless hours scrapbooking and collecting currency from all of the amazing travel adventures she was able to experience. She loved animals of all kinds and that never changed. She had such joy when any of her fur friends came to visit and would get the biggest smile on her face, no words were needed.

Ruth spent her last 3 years at Selo Gardens where she was welcomed in as if she was family and cared for with the utmost love and compassion. Her family, especially her husband and daughter, could not be more grateful for the love and care she received always but especially in her last days as she made the journey home.

Ruth was a good friend in high school in Torquay and we enjoyed many good times during those brief years. Even though we had lost touch over the years, it was sad to hear of her recent death. Sincere sympathy to her loved ones.

Our sincere condolences go out to Del and family on Ruth's passing.
We are related to Dorothy Cunningham at Selo Gardens and we have very fond memories of moments we shared with Ruthie. We loved to see her smiling, communicating with her eyes as my husband Brian teased her, and for her love of music...seeing her dance to the music. Ruth was a lovely woman, she will be greatly missed, but still, she is in a better place than she had been in lately. We know this will be hard for all of you....your caring and patience with Ruth was a testament to how much she was loved. God Bless You.
