Devoted wife and mother
Connie Jean Leyba, 72, died Monday, July 15, at Presbyterian
Saint Luke’s with her family by her side.
Connie was born July 19, 1946, in Denver, Colorado, to Jose Arsenio
Valdez and Jennie Maria Maestas Valdez.
In 1964, Connie graduated from Saint Joseph’s High School. She worked
with her husband in the drywall finishing business for many years, and
was a devoted caregiver as recently as February of this year. She was
known for her easy going, genuine and gracious care for her clients and their
families. Every person she cared for wanted her as their permanent,
caregiver. It was well known that there was not enough of her
to go around. Connie was an active member at Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Connie is survived by her husband, Richard John Leyba; her children, Dale Leyba,
Sherry Leyba Ahrens, and Shelly Leyba; her six grandchildren, Shelena Proski, Raquelle Ahrens, Scherel Proski, Shannon Proski, Shanelle Proski, Christian Ahrens; five great grandchildren; brothers Stanley and Silas and sisters Frieda and Esther; and many, many friends. And was preceded in death by her son Glenn Leyba.
