

"Hank"

Addison (Hank) Loyal Henry, 88, passed away Thursday February 2, 2017. He was born on July 22, 1928, near Madrid, Nebraska. He lived in Nebraska until 1940 when his mother and stepfather, moved to Denver, Colorado. In 1946, he graduated from South High School in Denver. Hank joined the Colorado State Guard and then in 1948, he joined the Colorado Army National Guard, where he served until 1963. He worked as a driver, mechanic, metalworker, and ordinance inspector.
Hank married Dorothy Ruggles on July 3, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elbert, Colorado. They bought their first home on S. Wolcott St. in Denver. Their first son was born in 1955. After three more sons were born, Hank joked about “adding a son” every year until he realized their family was determined by his name.
Hank is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ruggles, his sons, David, Richard, Daniel, and Patrick (Teresa). Also surviving are his twin sister, Adela Covey, his brother, Melvin Hunter, and his sisters, Sharon Williams, and Raelene Thompson (Chuck). Addison and Dorothy have seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
For most of his adult life, Hank worked as an auto mechanic. He taught his sons to assemble Volkswagens from used parts. He also was a Boy Scout leader and a do-it-yourself home repair expert. He and Dorothy were always active in square dance clubs, attending several National Square Dance conventions. His fondest memories were of spending weekends working the Ruggles Ranch in Elizabeth, Colorado with the whole family.
Memorial services will be at 10:00am, Tues. Feb. 7, 2017 at Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church, 13922 W.
Utah Ave., Lakewood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Children’s Hospital.
