

“Mr J”
Born March 29, 1936 in Denver and passed away February 27, 2016 in Wheat Ridge, CO. He grew up near Mississippi Ave. and Wadsworth Blvd. and attended Alameda High School, graduating in 1954. During high school he played as many sports as humanly possible and sang in the choir because the girls were cute.
He graduated in 1958 from UNC in Greeley and taught high school in Cambridge, NE. He then returned to the Denver area and taught for 30 yrs. in the Jeffco school district as an elementary PE teacher at Lawrence Elementary in Arvada. “Mr J” was adored by his students, often giving them each a nickname or singing a special song to them. He also taught at Foster, Russell and Parr Elementary schools. In 1991 he retired and spent many years traveling with his wife, playing basketball and golf and listening to his beloved music.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Maralee J. Nobis-Jacobsen, his children James Jacobsen and Susie (Rudy) Garza, grandchildren Azucena Jacobsen, Ernie Jacobsen, Eric Garza, Christina Garza, great-grandchildren Giovanni Jacobsen and Khloe Jacobsen. Also survived by brothers Bruce (Anne), Ray and Howard (Janett) and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Einer (“Jake”) and Myrtle (“Nora”) Jacobsen, his brother Paul and sister Dorothy Crites.
He was a man of few words but when he did say something, it was either funny or poignant.
A memorial services will be Saturday, March 5th at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Peace at Crown Hill Cemetery 7777 W. 29th Ave. Wheat Ridge. Cookies and ice cream reception immediately following.
