Joe, as we have always called him, was born in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California on November 22, 1959. He was the fourth child of a large Navy family that eventually settled in Colorado. He has one younger brother and was sorely outnumbered by six sisters. Joe was a football athlete in high school and college and had an interest in carpentry. He was known for building forts in the family’s backyard.
During his adult years, he loved outdoor adventures and went on many river rafting trips with his best friend and camping trips with extended family. Joe was also devoted to helping the “least of these” and volunteered over many years with several non-profits including Catholic Charities, Providers Resource Clearinghouse, and the Samaritan House Shelter.
Joe was always interested in the welfare of his siblings and enjoyed hearing all the news concerning his nieces and nephews. It was important to him to know that everyone was okay.
Joe was preceded in death by his Mother, Dorothy Mae (Tianen) Frainier and his father, Albert Joseph Frainier Jr. He is survived by six sisters and one brother. Ann Frainier, Kathryn (Frainier) and Gary Pachal, Dorothy (Frainier) and Gary Shackleton, Michele (Frainier) and Tod Zeigler, Stephanie (Frainier) and Chris Harrison, Michael and Tamara Frainier, Carolyn Frainier and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by his lifelong friend Patrick Ridgeway who has remained as close as any brother could be since grade school.
We remember you Joe, your big heart, your generosity, your compassion, your smile, your chuckle and that trademark twinkle in your eye. We especially remember your courage in the face of many obstacles. You bore your cross well; may we all endeavor to do the same.
