January 20, 1934 – August 27, 2026
Alma Jean DeCola Jerome, 92, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026.
Alma was born on January 20, 1934, in Leadville, Colorado, to Mary Ponzey and Ralph DeCola, an Italian immigrant. She was raised with strong family values and a deep faith that remained at the center of her life throughout her years.
After graduating from Golden High School, Alma became a Registered Nurse, dedicating her career to caring for others. Nursing was a natural expression of her generous spirit, compassionate heart, and lifelong desire to serve those around her.
In 1953, Alma married the love of her life, Donald Lee Jerome. Together they built a loving family and shared many cherished years before Donald's passing in 2021.
Alma was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her children, Barbara Ann Jerome Behl and her husband, Larry, of Shawnee, Colorado; Donald McCoy Jerome of Denver; and Jerald Anthony Jerome and his wife, Deb of Morrison. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kathleen Joan "Kathy" Jerome Corliss, in 2002. Kathy's husband, John Corliss, remains a cherished member of the family and blessed with two loving grandsons, Jerome” Luke” Charles Corliss and John “Ely”Anthony Corliss, and two treasured great-granddaughters, Luna May Corliss and Stella Kathleen Corliss.
Alma was also a beloved big sister who shared a special bond with her brother, Marion Charles "Sig" DeCola, and her sister, Rosemary "Penny" Bell. Alma lovingly remembered her brother, David "Butch" DeCola, who preceded her in death in 2011. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemary "Dody" Chavez and her husband, Manuel, along with many beloved relatives who preceded her in death.
Alma cherished her many nieces and nephews, God children and loved them dearly. Her extended family brought her immense joy, and the close connections she shared with them remained precious throughout her life.
Alma's faith was woven into everything she did. She will be remembered for her warm heart, joyful spirit, musical gifts, unwavering faith, and devotion to the people she loved. She found beauty in music, world travel, the mountains, the ocean, all of nature, animals, and in helping others. Through her kindness, compassion, and willingness to serve, she left a lasting legacy of love that will continue to live on through her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that Alma is now at peace with the Lord she loved and served so faithfully. Her love, her music, her faith, and her beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
