

Almeda Myrtle Thornton, 99 of Arvada, CO passed away March 4, 2011 in Arvada. She was born January 29, 1912 (the year the Titanic sank) in Asher, OK to Estella Josephine (Gage) Carter and John Omer Carter.
Almeda met her husband, Chester Earl Thornton in the 7th and 8th grades at Meadowbrook School. The couple married December 23, 1935 in Sayre, OK. The couple farmed in the Grimes, OK area. Almeda was a homemaker as well as worked hand and hand with Chester running the farm. She also enjoyed sewing. The couple managed two Methodist Camps in Oklahoma before moving to Slidell, LA to be near their son Carrol and family. After the death of her husband in 1997 she moved to Arvada to be near her daughter, Gwyena and family.

Walden, Tyler Carpenter, Joseph Walden; great grandmother of Keira Star McLaughlin.
Preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Dennis Wayne Carter, Edward (Ned) Carter, Garland Arthur Carter, Pauline May Carter Bowerman, Gladys Carter Hanna, Lillie Bell Carter LaCasse.
