Angie Cordy DeHerrera

April 23, 1932July 5, 2019

Angie Cordy DeHerrera, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2019.

Angie was married for 71 years and raised eight children (she would say singlehandedly, though our father is sitting right here). After raising all her children, Angie earned her CNA certification so she could keep doing what was natural to her: caring for others. She had that much love in her big, beautiful heart. She would take care of anyone in need, and they would be more than happy to enjoy the amazing meals she would prepare.

Angie was not known for holding back her opinion and always told it like it was. All who knew her will never forget her tenacity, strength, wit, grace, compassion, and beauty. She had a special talent for loving you fiercely…while keeping you on your toes.

Angie was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily. We are certain she had a direct line to God, as even the Broncos won when she prayed for them. In 1999, Angie trekked to the Holy Land and the Vatican, where we’re sure she whipped more than a few folks into shape. It is for her devotion to God and family and the incredible memories we have of her that she will be missed with the whole of our hearts. This woman lived her truth. She shared her strength and was a beacon to our family. We will miss her light, but then again, she gave us our own.

Angie joins her baby son, Joseph, in God’s Light. She is survived by her husband Desi; her sister Merlinda; her eight children Beverly, Dave, Steve, Jackie, Lola, Anita, Judy, and Bobbie, plus many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Please join us in celebrating Angie’s life Wednesday, July 17th, for a mass/rosary at St. Bernadette’s Parish at 11 AM followed by a luncheon at the American Legion Post 178 from 1 - 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, please bring your lovely selves and perhaps a memory or story to share of our beloved wife and mother.

I loved hearing Angie's stories from the San Luis Valley! What a life!
Thank you for sharing, Angie. I will miss baking for you. It was a joy to rise early on Sunday morning, contemplate what would mama like today, bake up a special treat for you, and know how much you would enjoy it later that day. I am so happy to have known you, Angie. I know you are in absolute peace and love now and forever.

How fortunate I was to have Angie's love! From the beginning, she welcomed me into her family with a wide open heart. We spent much of our time together just laughing. My favorite memory is of her showering--not sprinkling--Bobbie and me with holy water at our wedding. I loved her strength and admired her tenacity, and I will always miss her.

Angie , my best friends mother, was a beautiful, kind great mom, and the best cook I have ever had the honor to taste her green chilies and sopa paiz! Never will I forget her hospitality and made me feel like part of the family. Rest In Peace, Angie. You will be missed.
