Armando N. C de Baca passed away on October 19, 2026, in Wheatridge, Colorado. He celebrated his 94th birthday the week before his death. Armando is survived by his wife of 70 years, Agnes, as well as five children, Celeste M. (Jesus) Quinones, Corine F. C de Baca, Christine D. (Tony Ramos) C de Baca, Armando N. "Nick" C de Baca, and Carla A. (Vohn Regensbuger) C de Baca. Armando leaves behind grandchildren Arianne, Dino, Kyel, Clint, Christopher, Eddie and Juliette as well as great-grandchildren, David, TJ, Aris, Skylar, Dominic, Marco and Nico. Armando also leaves numerous nieces and nephews who considered him a father figure.
Armando was born in Bernalillo, New Mexico, to Vito and Frances Corine C de Baca; he was the youngest child with two older brothers and four older sisters. He attended Our Lady of Sorrows school, and, after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Mackenzie during the Korean War. Upon his return to New Mexico, he married Agnes in 1956, and they lived in Bernalillo raising their five children. He was a high school teacher, and, after his college graduation, he was an administrator for the War on Poverty Program in Bernalillo County, Bernalillo, New Mexico. In 1967, the C de Bacas moved to Denver, where Armando continued in government employment working as a Deputy Director of Denver Opportunity, then moved to a position with the City and County of Denver as Director at Denver General Hospital while he attended and completed the law program at Denver University. After attaining his Juris Doctorate in Law, Armando practiced law until his retirement. He always kept his family as a priority while also maintaining a lifelong dedication to community and political activism. His involvement in his children's lives and support of their friends in numerous ways is exhibited by a number of adults who met the family initially as friends of Celeste, Corine, Christine, Nick and Carla and still were dedicated to "Mr. C" even in his last years of his time on this earth. Armando's dedication to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a hallmark of his legacy. Armando served on many community Boards and Commissions, including the State Director and National Legal Counsel of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).
Armando was unfortunately diagnosed with Alzheimer's, as well as having other medical diagnoses that made his last years challenging, however, Armando kept his wit and appreciated the help and dedication of friends and family. Even at the end of his life, Armando retained his gracious, charming manner. Please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, Colorado Dominican Novitiate at Saint Dominic's Parish, or your favorite charity in Armando's honor.
