[August 5, 1970 – January 24, 2025]
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Arthur “Art” or “Artie” Ludka III, who left us far too soon at the age of 52. Art was a beloved son, brother, uncle, granduncle, and friend whose kindness, humor, and unwavering loyalty touched the lives of so many.
Standing tall at 6'5", Art had an even bigger heart. From an early age, he was full of energy and curiosity, always chasing after the next adventure. Whether it was sports, fishing, food, or work, he approached life with enthusiasm and passion.
A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Art’s devotion to the team began in elementary school when he read about their history—and he never looked back. His home became a Pittsburgh shrine, proudly featuring his prized possession, the Terrible Towel. Watching games with friends was a treasured tradition, filled with camaraderie and excitement.
Fishing was another of Art’s great joys. From childhood trips with his grandparents to frequent outings with his parents, he had an uncanny ability to catch fish, once reeling in over 30 trout during a four-day trip.
His love of food was just as strong. Art was an adventurous eater and an excellent cook, always introducing friends and family to new dishes. He brought an abundance of food to family gatherings and was the first to help clean up after meals. He loved to out to dinner with his sister, parents and friends. The event was filled with laughter, jokes, and the pursuit of the perfect dining experience.
Art took pride in his work, spending decades selling light fixtures at Foothills and Galleria Lighting. He built strong relationships with coworkers and customers alike, guiding people to the best purchases with his knowledge and care. His coworkers appreciated his crazy antics and warm personality, and his clients valued his expertise and dedication to making every transaction as smooth as possible.
Above all, Art’s greatest passion was his family. He was a loving and protective son, a devoted brother, and a big teddy bear of an uncle. He looked after his senior parents with unwavering care, and his sister knew him as her “younger big brother.” His nieces and grandniece adored him, and he never missed an opportunity to make them feel special and loved.
Art had a quirky and wonderful sense of humor, an endless curiosity, and a wealth of knowledge that made every conversation unforgettable. Whether discussing sports, weather patterns, conspiracy theories, or his own musings on “global sweating,” he always had something interesting to share.
Art leaves behind a family who adored him: his parents, Barb and Art Ludka; his sister, Angie; his nieces, Ashley and Skye; his grandniece, Hazel; nephew by marriage Adrian and many extended family members and close friends. While our hearts are broken by his loss, we are forever grateful for the love, laughter, and memories he gave us.
A celebration of Art’s life will be held on Thursday, February 13, at 11 AM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO. In honor of his love for great food, sports, family, and friendship, we encourage guests to share their favorite stories and memories of Art.
Art, you were deeply loved and will be missed beyond words. Our lives were better for knowing you.
