

Barbara Kay Bade (Barb), of Broomfield, CO passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on July 4th, 2025 at her home in Broomfield. Barb was the loving mother of Don Blunn of Louisville, CO and Mike Blunn of Thornton, CO.
Barb was born January 7, 1949 in Indianapolis, IN to William and Mary Eddleman. She attended school in both Indiana and Colorado, moving with her parents to Colorado as a teenager. Barb worked a variety of jobs in her life, mostly in clerical roles. Her long-time employer was Western Disposal in Boulder, CO where she met her late husband, Sam Bade. Sam and Barb were married on September 24, 1988 until his death on August 14, 2018. They enjoyed a life together focused on family and fun.
Barb and Sam enjoyed attending the activities and sporting events of their grandchildren. Together they traveled frequently to a wide variety of places including Florida, The Bahamas, California and Mexico.
Barb enjoyed serving the community in volunteer roles with the VFW and as a member of the Louisville Volunteer Fire Departments' Ladies Auxiliary. In 1981, Barb became the first ever female volunteer firefighter for the Louisville Fire Department.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, her parents, William and Mary, her brother, Bill Eddleman and her infant daughter, Catherine Blunn. She is survived by her sons Don Blunn (wife Becky Blunn) and Mike Blunn (wife Stacy Blunn), grandchildren Mitchell Blunn, Niki Patterson (husband Ian), Jacob Blunn, Kaylee Martinez (husband Tyler) and her great-grandchildren Kessler Patterson, Kael Patterson, AnnLea Martinez, Emma Martinez and Thaddeus Martinez.
Services will be held at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO on Wednesday, July 16th, with a Viewing at 9:30am and a Funeral Service at 10:00am. Reception to follow at the Tri-City Elks, 525 Main St. Louisville, CO. Contributions in Barbara’s name to the Elks National Foundation may be made payable to Tri-City Elks at the address already listed above.
